Old Hill is a geographic feature and place name in northern Lewis Township, Clay County, Indiana. It is located near the intersection of Lewis Township with Harrison and Perry Townships. Old Hill is part of the Terre Haute Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The location was a favorite camping ground for Native American tribes.[2] It was said in a 1927 report that there is a tradition that Indian treasure was buried there, and that the graves of about thirty Irish immigrants who died building the Wabash and Erie Canal are located there.[3]

Elijah Rawley was one of the first settlers in Lewis Township, arriving in about 1823, and built a mill on the Eel River near Old Hill.[4] Thus "Old Hill" or "The Old Hill" is among the oldest settled points on the Eel River.[5] According to a 1902 article, when the county was organized in 1825, " 'The Old Hill' was the most frequented and noted point within its borders."[6] From 1848 until 1853, a Carrithers Township existed in Clay County, and the voting place was at the foot of Old Hill at Rawley's, at the intersection of current County Roads 525W and 600 South.[7]
