On October 1, 2023, the Maryland Child Victims Act took effect in the U.S. state of Maryland.[1][2] It retroactively voids the statute of limitations for all such cases.[1][2] The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore decided to respond with bankruptcy on September 29 to avoid the anticipated large resulting financial losses.[1][2]
