Surama Padhy

Surama Padhy (born 29 December 1960) is an Indian politician from Odisha. She is an MLA from Ranpur Assembly Constituency in Nayagarh District. She represents Bharatiya Janata Party. She won the 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly election.[1][2]

Early life and education[edit]

Padhy is from Ranpur. She married Bipina Bihari Padhy, a chartered accountant. She completed her Master of Arts in 1982 at Ravenshaw College which is affiliated to Utkal University.[3]

Career[edit]

Padhy won the 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly election from Ranpur Assembly Constituency representing Bharatiya Janata Party. She defeated Satyanarayan Pradhan of Biju Janata Dal by a margin of 15,544 votes.[4][5] Earlier, she lost the 2019 Odisha Legislative Assembly election to Pradhan by a narrow margin of 4,251 votes.[6]
