Johnny Furphy (born 7 December 2004) is an Australian college basketball player for the Kansas Jayhawks of the Big 12 Conference.

Early life[edit]

Furphy was born and grew up in Melbourne, Australia.[1] Furphy attended the Basketball Australia Centre for Excellence (CoE) at the Australian Institute of Sport.[2] Furphy averaged 14.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in 12 games during his final season at CoE.[3] He committed to play college basketball in the United States for Kansas.[4]

College career[edit]

Furphy entered his freshman season at Kansas as a key reserve wing.[5] He made his first collegiate start on January 13, 2024, against ninth-ranked Oklahoma and scored seven points in a 78–66 win.[6] Furphy was named to the Big 12 Conference All-Freshman team at the end of the regular season.[7]
