Jinjoon Lee FRSA (이진준 born in Masan, South Korea)[1] is a professor at KAIST and contemporary artist.
Education[edit]
After graduating from the Business School of Seoul National University in 2001, he obtained a BFA (2005) and an MFA (2009) in Sculpture from SNU. He then went on to pursue a master's degree (2017) in Moving Image and Design Interaction at the Royal College of Art in London, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Art from the Ruskin School of Fine Art, St Hugh's College, University of Oxford.
Career[edit]
Lee is best known for the public media sculpture They,[2] which was permanently installed at Digital Media City, Seoul in 2010. He is currently an assistant professor at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).
Controversy[edit]
On May 26, 2024, Jinjoon Lee was publicly accused of extortion, abuse, and defrauding the Korean government by a former postdoctoral researcher at KAIST, who claimed that they were forced to send £15,777.39 to Jinjoon Lee's wife under threat of having their job offer revoked. The researcher also alleged that they had been fired in retaliation for the making a complaint.[3]
