Sanskriti the Gurukul (STG) is a day-boarding school, meaning students are provided with meals, sports, activities, and remedials, etc. then return home to their families each evening. Located on the outskirts of Guwahati, in the Indian state of Assam, STG was inaugurated by S.K. Sinha as "North-East India's first day-boarding school." Though STG was established on the ideas of founder and secretary, Ashutosh Aggarwal, the school follows the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) curriculums. Aggarwal values student engagement and experience rather than the common "teach to test" mindset, stating, "we need a school system that values questions above answers, creativity above fact memorization, and individuality above uniformity;" "...education must prepare people for an unknowable, ambiguous and rapidly changing future, and should not be reduced to selecting the right response to [multiple-choice questions]."
In 2015, the school was awarded “India’s most influential brand” by AsiaOne Magazine. [citation needed]
Campus[edit]
The school campus spans 3.7 acres and features study centers equipped with cutting-edge ICT infrastructure, including smart boards and short throw projectors. Additionally, there are well-equipped laboratories for physics, chemistry, and biology, along with a well-stocked library.
Sports amenities comprise a swimming pool, lawn tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, three badminton courts, a Yoga Pavilion, a taekwondo arena, an aerobic center, TT tables, carom boards, and chess tables.
Furthermore, the campus includes a three-bed infirmary staffed by a trained and experienced nurse, as well as a dining hall capable of accommodating up to 300 students.[1]
Academics[edit]
Affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), Sanskriti the Gurukul provides education from the pre-primary level to class XII.
STG is claimed to place a strong emphasis on continuous innovation and employs experiential and exploratory teaching methods for subjects like Science and Mathematics. English lessons involve storytelling and recreating scenes. Additionally, students from class VI onwards are introduced to coding, Python, and Ubuntu.
STG maintains a teacher-student ratio ranging from 1:10 to 1:26.
