The final day of my trip was the most humid of the summer. Anytime I came to a stop I started sweating profusely. About 20 miles into the day I got a flat tire while climbing a hill along Route 7. I lost liters of sweat changing the flat on the exposed shoulder. This was my seventh or eighth flat of the ride. Like many of the others, this one was due to a worn out back tire that was sliced by a piece of gravel. The rest of the day was a breeze once I changed the flat. There was a short 5 miles to Purcellville and then I cruised home on the W & OD bike trail. I made it to 3805 Bent Branch Road around 4:30, just in time for a dinner of barbecued chicken, pasta salad, corn, fruit salad and peach cobbler.
Thanks to everyone who bothered to read this blog. It was a little lonely on the road at times, but it helped knowing that there were people rooting for me.
Most of all, huge thanks to Chris Condit and Mark Beattie. Their combined knowledge of computers and bicycles made this blog and this trip possible.
Congratulations!!!! We will miss your writings and pictures of this great USA!!!
Best to you and if you want to veg out on the Inner Banks of NC come any time.

Congrats Evan! I’m glad you made it safe.
Welcome home Evan!
I am really going to miss having your blog to read every day, it was wonderful to get to see what you were up to.
PS, I’m curious about how long your hair got. I request a picture before the shearing.
Congrats on the end of the ride. Now we have to do our work instead of discussing your various exploits every day.
good job, buddy!
Wow! It does seem like you made good time. Can you post a few totals? Total miles, total nights camping vs. hotels, total milk shakes/rootbeer floats drank
I too will miss reading your adventures and encounters with america and its peoples. Very enjoyable reading. Find something else to blog about please!
Great job riding. Glad that you made it in safe. Good lucy with your next endeavor.
Goose!
Great to hear that the trip went and ended well and that you had a good time. I am still in awe of what you just accomplished. You ROCK! There is really nothing you can’t do after this, so I will be eagerly waiting to find out what your next move will be.
Lots of love from NY,
